The top six teams (and individuals not on the top six to bring the field to 54 players) advance to the second day of play, which will tee off at 10 a.m. Freshman America Negrete finished 52nd at 154. Freshman Adalynn Lehman tied for 50th at 138. Sophomore Bailey Rhodes tied for 31st at 108. Senior Cadence Altum missed a medal by one place and one stroke, tying for 11th at 88. Newton was led by senior Lindsey Warsnak, who placed seventh at 83 for a medal. The s class is an introductory Tae Kwon Do class taught by Dany Monares emphasizing discpline, courtesy, and respect while helping. Newton Recreation Center recently hoste a Pre-School Tae Kwon Do class, for children ages 4 and 5. Kinslea Jones of Maize and Keira Michelle Ronsick of Bishop Carroll shared top medalist honors with a one-over par 71 (playoff results were not indicated). Salina Central didn’t field the required four-player minimum to receive a team score. Rounding out the field was Salina South at 392, Maize South at 402, Hutchinson at 445, Great Bend at 466 and Valley Center at 484. Hays and Bishop Carroll tied for first with team scores of 324, but Hays won the fifth-score tie-breaker 90-99. SALINA - For the first time in several years, the Newton High School girls’ golf team qualified for state as a team, taking fourth Monday at the Class 5A regional tournament at the Salina Municipal Golf Course.
