Bombastic play-by-play is provided by WWE commentators Mauro Ranallo and Jerry “The King” Lawler to complete the mood. WWE 2K Battlegrounds is designed to be easy to pick up and play, but challenging to master, with more advanced techniques to be learned and skills to be unlocked so players of all skill levels can enjoy the action.Įight unique Battlegrounds environments play a major role in the action, many of them featuring interactive elements adding to the mayhem alongside a variety of outrageous melee weapons players can use to pummel opponents. There’s a fair number of unlockables, from Hulk Hogan (and Hollywood Hogan), to Triple H and Shawn Micheals. The cash you get can then be used in multiple ways upgrading your skills, unlocking new traits for your avatar or spend it in the in-game shop to unlock new wrestlers!įinally, a game that doesn’t make you buy DLC for extra characters. Level up and you get more currency and other unlocks. You earn currency for every fight, win or lose and XP. They repeat a bit too much for my liking, though I found that I didn’t pay them any attention when I’m engrossed in the matches. Wrestler entrances are gone, replaced with a short intro featuring the fighters before a match.ĭuring the matches, Jerry ‘the King’ Lawler commentates though his lines are mostly relegated to quips here and there. Presentation is a bit lacking in this aspect too. Luckily, all this is just a stepping stone to the main event the matches.
